1. Wow. 2. What?quasiperiodic tilings from a 15th-century Uzbekistani madrasa
Yeah, the same quasiperiodic tilings that theoretical physicist Roger Penrose wrote about in the 20th century. The same quasiperiodic tilings that Tony Robbin says are the projections of a high-dimensional cubic lattice onto 2-D.
What now, Christian culture?

More high-speed video showing not only the obligatory liquids but also bubble blowing, lightning, explosions, and insects in flight. Not as surrealistically smooth as some, but interesting none the less.

Geometry: Half the circumference of a circle with a radius of 1 is exactly pi
Record for calculation: 5 trillion, by Shigeru Kondo (Japan) and Alexander J. Yee (United States) in August 2010
Record for memorization: 67,890 digits, by Chao Lu (China) in November 2005
How random? There are no occurences of the sequence 123456 in the first million digits of pi
Pi Day: In 2009, Congress voted in favor of supporting March 14 as Pi Day

I don’t know if this was the artist’s intention, but this piece gives me a feeling of musical notes and, at the same time, evokes a vector field. Like maybe a red mark could indicate the attentional direction of a goose, and the grey line could chart its flight path.

Keep your eyes on the sky.
Next week, the moon will make its closest approach to Earth in almost 20 years. Astrologers say the phenomenon, known as “Super Moon,” historically coincides with enormous natural disasters. Both the New England hurricane of 1938 and the Australian Hunter Valley floods of 1955 happened during Super Moons, they say. The last Super Moon came in 2005, at around the same time as Hurricane Katrina and the Indonesian tsunami.
In this artwork by Holton Rower, paint (typically a non-Newtonian fluid) is poured down a rectangular prism; the result is a neat demonstration of shearing in laminar flows. Paint is usually shear-thinning, meaning that its viscosity decreases under shear; this is why the color stripes on the vertical panels expand more than those on the horizontal surfaces do. # (submitted by Stephan)
