Glass Beach is a unique beach, not because nature made it that way, but because time and the pounding surf have corrected one of man’s mistakes.
Beginning in 1949, the area around Glass Beach became a public dump. It is hard to imagine this happening today, but back then people dumped all kinds of refuse straight into the ocean, including old cars, and their household garbage, which of course included lots of glass.
By the early sixties, some attempts were made to control what was dumped, and dumping of any toxic items was banned. Finally in 1967, the North Coast Water Quality Board realized what a mistake it was and plans were begun for a new dump away from the ocean.
Now, over 30 years later, Mother Nature has reclaimed this beach. Years of pounding wave action have deposited tons of polished glass onto the beach. You’ll still see the occasional reminder of it earlier life, such as a rusted spark plug, but for the most part what you’ll see is millions of pieces of glass sparkling in the sun. (As part of MacKerricher State Park, collecting is no longer allowed).

I love this approach. He’s at the mercy of the material and embracing it. Maybe I don’t need to be quite a perfectionist!

TO UNDERSTAND IS TO PERCEIVE PATTERNS
Seeing the patterns - the more successful technology becomes, the more it looks like nature as Jason Silva breathlessly explains (one minute 1:45)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a medical imaging technique to acquire images from the human body —vegetables and fruits also =) —, and it is completely harmless (no radiation). If well applied, you can virtually scan any part of the human body.
Those scans were made, when I was in college, being able to play around with an MRI. Yeah MRIs are fun =)
These images are part of a series of remarkable patterns that bacteria form when grown in a petri dish. The colony structures form as adaptive responses to laboratory-imposed stresses that mimic hostile environments faced in nature. (via)

I want a door like this!
If you roll a circle inside one 3 times its size, it will actually trace out a 4 pointed star shape called an Astroid (this shape is traced out in the animation in orange). But what if inside the smaller circle, there is an even smaller one tracing out a smaller Astroid? This animation shows the intricate shape that is generated by adding the effects of all the Astroids. [code]
