Tree stump relief print, work by Bryan Nash Gill, originally posted by Ashes & Milk, an online gallery space, via oliphillips
The print is literally created by meticulous pressing of fingers onto the back of the paper laid on top of an inked tree stump.
More of the process is described here.

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a secure seedbank located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen near the town of Longyearbyen in the remote Arctic Svalbard archipelago, about 1,300 kilometres (810 mi) from the North Pole.
The facility preserves a wide variety of plant seeds in an underground cavern. The seeds are duplicate samples, or “spare” copies, of seeds held in genebanks worldwide. The seed vault will provide insurance against the loss of seeds in genebanks, as well as a refuge for seeds in the case of large scale regional or global crises.
Millions of nanosize “nails” form a highly repellent surface: A trio of prismatic drops (left to right: water, ethylene glycol and ethanol) balances on a new ultra-repellent surface invented by scientists at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The surface, made up of silicon spikes just 400 nanometers wide, physically repels a wide variety of liquids, including water, oil, solvents and detergents.
Kolam is a form of sand painting that is drawn using rice powder by female members of the family in front of their home. It is widely practiced by Hindus in South India. A kolam is a sort of painted prayer - a line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. Kolams are thought to bestow prosperity to homes.
ESO ALMA Antenna Time Lapse
“Time-lapse of a whole night at the ALMA Array Operations Site (AOS), located at 5000 meters altitude on the Chajnantor plateau, in the II Region of Chile. As the Moon sets at the beginning of the night, three of the first ALMA antennas start tests as part of the ongoing Commissioning and Science Verification process. Because they are pointing at the same target in the sky at any moment, their movements are perfectly synchronized.
As the sky appears to rotate clockwise around the south celestial pole (roughly on the upper left edge of the video), the Milky Way goes down slowly, until it is lying almost horizontal before sunrise. The center of our galaxy becomes visible during the second half of the night as a yellowish bulge crossed by dark lanes in the center of the image, just above the antennas.
The flashes on the ground are the car lights of the guards patrolling at the AOS. ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array is the largest astronomical project in existence and is a truly global partnership between the scientific communities of East Asia, Europe and North America with Chile. ESO is the European partner in ALMA.”

Vesica Piscis in 3D and Light Lenses of Creation: Vesica Piscis is a shape which is formed by the intersection of two spheres in 3D or two circles in 2D with the same radius, intersecting in such a way that the centre of each sphere or circle lies on the circumference of the other. The name literally means the “Bladder of a fish” in Latin. The shape is also called Mandorla or “Almond” in Italian!
This original image is of the manifestation of the Vessica Piscis in 3D as a result of the fusion of the spherical light lenses of creation, as presented by Walter Russell, the American polymath.
In the earliest traditions, the supreme being was represented by a sphere: the symbol of a being with no beginning and no end, continually existing, perfectly formed and profoundly symmetrical. The addition of a second sphere represented the expansion of unity into the duality of male and female: god and goddess. By overlapping, the two spheres, the god and goddess created a divine offspring.
The Vesica Pisces motif (and its derivatives, the Flower of Life, Tree of Life, and Fundamentals of Geometry) has a history of thousands of years and easily predates virtually all major religious traditions of the present era.
