Solace of Rupture
Inhabiting a space between attraction and unease, Solace of Rupture explores destruction and darkness as a site of transformation. Following a studio fire that destroyed 25 years of artwork, alongside profound personal shifts, Carr suggests there is value in holding space for darkness and a comfort in leaning into uncertainty.
Continuing her longstanding interest in transformation and alchemical process, the work also draws on Jungian ideas surrounding integration and the unconscious. Rather than resisting discomfort or fear, Solace of Rupture considers what may emerge through sustained contact with the unknown.
