This drawing is a study from the collaboration with the Ordered Universe project (click here for more information on the project). It is in response to the medieval text De Shpera by Bishop Robert Grosseteste (c.1170-1253), in which he describes the notion of how the universe came into being. This study depicts the change in length of the day and the Sun's latitude in the sky as the seasons change. Grosseteste believed that the Sun revolves around the Earth in a spiral fashion and it's orbit moves up and down the width of the Earth by increments.
