Metamorphic Creep

This piece draws on geological processes, Jungian psychology and the Nigredo (the initial alchemical stage of putrefaction/decomposition which was believed to lead to enlightenment and the philosopher’s stone). The formal interplay or light and dark are woven into the conceptual core of the project to highlight themes of transformation and regeneration.

The piece is constructed using modular origami techniques and is made from a range of coloured and pearlised papers. Each unit tucks into the next, enabling a multitude of geometric constructions both 2D and 3D.
